In January 2024, the Young Cavaliers Foundation hosted a heartwarming new year’s lunch at Brasserie in Tokai, which was dedicated to celebrating our scholars. Independent Trustee for Young Cavaliers Foundation, Ross Wilson, gave a warm welcome to our scholars and their families, reminding everyone of the importance of family and community in the success of our foundation’s mission.
The atmosphere at the lunch was one of warmth and camaraderie as scholars and their families mingled with each other, sharing stories and building connections. It was a joyous celebration of the community we've built, where dreams are supported, and aspirations are encouraged. During the event we handed out YCF merchandise to our scholars in the form of caps and hoodies as a token of appreciation for their hard work. As the room buzzed with excitement, we captured a few moments and memorable photos which we’ve shared in this blog post. Liam Adams, advisor and mentor for the Young Cavaliers Foundation, took the podium to share inspiring words with our scholars. Sharing personal stories from his time at Wynberg Boys’ High, Liam’s words resonated deeply with our scholars and their families. His message centered around the importance of aiming high and cultivating a Growth Mindset in the face of learning challenges. The Young Cavaliers Foundation, a scholarship and mentorship initiative, is committed to providing promising young South Africans with access to educational and developmental opportunities. By bringing our scholars and their families together at events like this, we not only celebrate their achievements but also foster a sense of belonging and support for our scholars and their families. Together, we are making a small yet meaningful contribution to shaping South Africa's leaders of tomorrow.

Announcing our inaugural recipient of the Young Cavaliers Foundation Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship21/3/2022 We are proud to announce that Brandon Malgas, a Grade 7 learner at Heathfield Primary School in Elfindale, Heathfield, is our first recipient of the YCF Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship. Brandon attended Heathfield Primary from Grade R. His scholarship will enable him to attend high school at Wynberg Boys' High School (WBHS) from 2022 to 2026. We wish to acknowledge and thank the WBHS Headmaster and enrolment team for their important role in making Brandon's dream come true and without whom this opportunity would not have been possible. Living in Retreat with his Mom and Dad, Brandon is the middle child in his family and has both an older and younger sister. His younger sister also attends Heathfield Primary. Brandon is a prefect at Heathfield Primary School. His favourite subject is Natural Science. He plays soccer and also enjoys athletics. Brandon enjoys playing sport, exploring Mother Nature and the outdoors including camping and hiking. He shows an innate desire to lead others and share his knowledge which will no doubt help him build a successful career one day. Brandon's creative approach to problem solving, energy and hard work ethic is what helps him to achieve his goals. His motto is "Never give up! Tough times don’t last but tough people do!" Wynberg Boys' High School will help mold me into the best person I can be. My goal is to educate myself, help others in similar situations, work in my community and give back - making a difference. We have hosted cricket clinics and plan to extend these to other schools in our communities as we grow. If you're interested in giving back to our community through involvement with our foundation through sports clinics or other initiatives, we invite you to reach out to us directly.
